Hawaii 2016, TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY

For our ten year anniversary we visited the happiest place on earth!  I love O'ahu and felt blissfulness and glee just bubbling out of me during the trip.  I absolutely loved sharing this special place with our kids.
At one point I found myself bursting with laughter with a homeless man after several failed attempts at putting my shopping cart in the cart-return.  He and I watched my cart roll backwards undoing all my effort, we looked at each other and roared with laughter.  I felt like I left the island with 20 new friends, including this man.

Lydia had a hard time on the flight (and 2 teeth broke through her gums 2 days later) but the girls did great once we were on Hawaii.  We stayed in a condo on Haleiwa, right on the beach and loved playing in the sand and water!

My little globe trotter
The next morning we woke up early and drove to Waimanalo beach.  For years I dreamed of having a barefoot beach wedding, and I was a little let down by our temple marriage 10 years ago...  So we made my dream come true and renewed our vows on the beach. We had an officiate and a short sunrise ceremony.  Hawaii does not disappoint!  It was everything I hoped it would be: enchanting, romantic, sweet and genuine.

I love love love this picture.  Sisterhood summed up in a photo.
A few days into our trip I found this fantastic humongous tree and we took a few more photos. IMG_9268b IMG_9277b IMG_9288c IMG_9258b IMG_9327b

The waves at some of the beaches were huge- 15 to 20 feet (that's 30-40 feet faces!)

I used to run from my house to this pier once a week during sunrise.  It's become one of my treasured memories of living on O'ahu.IMG_1974

We spent one day on Waikiki.  Avery loved swimming in the protected pools!  I was excited to get back to sleepy Haleiwa.

I got to surf every couple days right in Haleiwa.  Pua'ena point had great waves of all sizes, which is good for an out-of-shape Utahn like myself!  How can Utahns stay in surfing shape?  I was so wiped out after one hour on the water I could barely lift my head!
IMG_9224
It was crowded!
IMG_9201
I sure love this girl

IMG_9238
Avery's first "surfing" experience.  She got splashed and cried, lol
IMG_9168
Some day this will be a real wave!
IMG_3762
Lydia seemed to really love the ocean!  It must sound like being in the womb lol.
IMG_9166
Avery tried to snorkel at Shark's Cove but it was too cold.
IMG_9133
She spent hours exploring and playing on all the beaches we visited.
IMG_9120
This beautiful smiling babe came onto our beach to sun bathe.  Hawaiian Monk Seals are endangered, so we felt very lucky to have seen her!
IMG_9082
The semi-wild birds are such pests, always pecking and begging for food.

Waiamea Falls.  The water was very cold, I'm proud of Avery for getting in with me!IMG_9050

I really love this :)

Avery wasn't impressed with Matsumotos shaved ice.  She picked around the beans, my favorite part.
IMG_3809
Lydia ate about 3 cups of sand.
IMG_3772
I ran out to Ka'ena point while watching the most incredible sunset.

This was our sunset dinner on our deck to celebrate our 10 years together.

We saw a lot of turtles, but didn't touch any!

Todd ran Ka'ena point and beyond.  He did one run that was 21 miles long!

This photo is a real dream come true for me.  Combining my favorite people with my favorite place made me happy!

The End of a Chapter

Disclaimer: part of my boob is shown in the below photo.  Sorry Mom!

It seems that breastfeeding Lydia is coming to an end.  She's biting me (hard!) and seems impatient, unsatisfied, and unhappy when I try to nurse her.  And I am terribly sad to see it end!

It's hard to explain exactly why I love it so much (I don't really understand why I do!) so I won't even attempt it on this blog... But the other night I woke Lydia up because she bites less if she's half asleep.  And I nursed her one last time to truly savor and enjoy the beautiful quiet love we share in the wee hours of the night.  And I just cried.  Saying goodbye to this chapter of my life has proven harder than I expected!

Oh, the love I have for her.

Sunrise Running

I've been running again to train for a race next May.  The sunrise and sunset runs are my favorite, though they're often snowy and cold!

Moab February 2016

Todd ran a 55k in Moab last week! That is 33.5 miles!! He is amazing. a todd Photo credit: Kendall Wimmer
While Todd ran his heart out, Avery Lydia and I played at the park and biked along the river. . IMG_1922
After celebrating at the finish line (Todd ran 33.5 miles across steep terrain in an amazing 5 hours 45 minutes!) we went back to the hotel so I could run an impressive six miles on a flat paved trail, which nearly killed me. lol
We got pizza and to Avery's delight, went hot tubbing.

IMG_1928
The rest of the trip was spent climbing, hiking, eating, and enjoying the scenery.  I loved seeing Moab with some snow!

Lydia worked hard at sitting around and looking cute

This was her favorite climb, it was repeated 5 times.

Still hard at work!

How Todd could climb for 1.5 hours the day after his race is beyond me.

Grand Targhee

A few weeks ago I went on a girl's trip to Grand Targhee.  We had a great time!  I laughed so hard I cried (and nearly lost control of my bladder) and caught up on some much needed sleep.  It was blissful to be away and in such good company, AND I missed my family like crazy.  As the trip neared it's end I felt recharged and ready to return to normal life.
